Robb Kirchner
CEO

Robb brings more than 35 years’ experience in the energy industry as a plc Board member and corporate leader with demonstrated success in developing, managing and financing a broad spectrum of energy companies and new technologies.

Robb was most recently CEO of a private oil & gas company focused on Gabon and West Africa. Previously, Robb was CEO of London AIM-listed First Africa Oil (FAO), building a team and raising $73 million to successfully develop, in less than 18 months, the EOV field offshore Gabon. Prior to FAO, Robb was Deputy CEO of Russia-focused Sibir Energy which grew to become the largest company on London’s AIM market, with a $5 billion market capitalization. Robb started his career with Mobil Oil and worked globally with ExxonMobil and BP in Europe, Russia, Africa and Asia. With ExxonMobil he worked across numerous African countries and local communities, including Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, Angola and Chad.

Robb has also led companies focused on new, clean-energy and carbon capture technologies. Most recently, Robb is a founder and advisor on the start-up of the first large-scale battery storage company in sub-Saharan Africa, Energy Storage Africa.

Alan Levison
COO

Alan has more than 40 years of experience in upstream oil and gas much of which has been in senior executive roles in companies such as Maersk Oil, Chevron Oil, British Gas (BG Group), First Africa Oil and Sasol. He has also spent several years in senior advisory roles with the National Oil Company of South Africa (PetroSA) and the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR).

In the early part of his career Alan worked for Maersk on several gas
discoveries in the Danish Sector of the North Sea. He later worked on Chevron’s giant Ninian Oil Field in the North Sea as lead Geologist. At British Gas Alan was responsible for Southern North Sea and Irish Sea gas development projects, including the 7TCF Morecambe Field.

The majority of his career has been focused on the African continent and at British Gas as Exploration Vice President for Africa he managed a large technical team that operated numerous licenses in Gabon, Nigeria, Tunisia, Egypt and Somalia. He later took responsibility for BG’s upstream projects in Russia and Kazahkstan which included the Caspian Sea where the giant Kashaghan oil field was discovered.

At PetroSA as International Exploration Manager he was responsible for growth throughout Africa that resulted in several exploration licenses being acquired in Gabon, Egypt and Algeria. As Senior Vice President Exploration and Production at First Africa Oil he built and managed a team to successfully develop an offshore oil field. He has also served as New Ventures Manager at Sasol with a global mandate and managed the evaluation of numerous bid rounds, farm-outs and corporate acquisitions in Mozambique, South Africa, Namibia, Australia and Papua New Guinea. Most recently Alan served at NAMCOR as Project Director for the Kudu Gas to Power Project offshore Namibia.

Tim James
Financial Director

Tim brings 30 years’ experience in the energy industry working at a senior level in finance, commercial and economics roles.

Tim started his career with Premier Oil, working as Finance Manager in the company’s Pakistan (Islamabad) office for three years before moving back to London as finance and commercial manager for the company’s North Sea asset interests and representing the company on Joint Ventures Operating Committees.

Tim was then a director of Beardall Parry & Associates, an upstream asset evaluation consultancy,  before taking up the position of Principal Economist with Fugro Robertson and CGG. During this time Tim worked in most fiscal jurisdictions internationally carrying out oil/gas field evaluations for asset/company acquisitions and Competent Persons’ Reports.  He also worked in project teams as senior economist on the North Sea Buzzard, Ettrick and Golden Eagle Field developments.

Most recently, Tim has been a senior finance and economic advisor to NAMCOR E&P on the Kudu Field Development and well as supporting M&A activities in sub-Saharan Africa.

Over a period of 10 years Tim has run finance, economics and risk analysis training programs to UK Universities and throughout Europe and the Far and Middle East.

Bob Timmerman
Drilling Manager

Bob is a mechanical engineer by education. He is a seasoned drilling engineering professional, knowledgeable in all aspects of well design and well delivery with a strong focus on HSE.

Bob has worked in many regions around the world over 40 years, and has held numerous positions of leadership, including 3 years as senior drilling advisor for Shell Brunei, 2 years as Drilling Team Leader for CEPSA Kenya, one year as drilling and completion manager for a deep-water project in Mexico. He also has 5 years as Global Well Delivery Manager for Sasol Petroleum which included Sasol’s drilling operations in Mozambique. In recent years he has held senior drilling management roles for Gaz de France (GdF), Petrom Romania and Preussag.
